An Architect’s Miami Party Playground Heads to Ibiza
Since launching Fabel, a buzzy rooftop restaurant in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, in 2022, Matthew Rosenberg’s transition from architect to restaurateur has been as successful as his design career. Recalling the beach clubs of Saint-Tropez with a dash of Tulum, the visionary principal behind the L.A.-based firm M-Rad put his stamp on the local culinary scene with a sleek style, theatrical Mediterranean menu, and nightly performances by big-name DJs and pirouetting feather girls. Next month, Matthew Rosenberg will take Miami’s buzzy Fabel on the road when it pops up at the new OKU Ibiza. “I’ve spent many summers on the coastlines of southern Europe—a big influence on my approach to hospitality,” he says. “It seems only natural I return with what it taught me.”
Former El Bulli chef Dan Perretta’s menu will pair inspirations from his past with Fabel favorites. The DJ acts and feather girls are joining the fray, too, giving the Balearics a taste of Miami. “The Fabel experience can’t be explained or even seen, only felt,” he says. If Ibiza isn’t on the itinerary this summer, look for an upcoming announcement of another pop-up in The Hamptons this August. —Nate Storey

Carpenters Workshop Gallery has denied allegations of sexual impropriety and unethical business practices reported by Air Mail. The gallery attributes these claims to a commercial dispute and ongoing legal proceedings, expressing pride in its two-decade history and commitment to its artists and team. The Air Mail report, based on anonymous interviews with former employees and artists, includes accusations of inappropriate behavior by co-founders Julien Lombrail and Loïc Le Gaillard and criticisms of working conditions, though some artists, like Hannes Koch, have reported positive experiences.
Acclaimed British artist Tracey Emin and philanthropist Hannah Rothschild will be honored as Dames in the latest King’s Birthday Honours list for their contributions to the art world. Emin, known for iconic works like My Bed and her large-scale neon installation I Want My Time With You, has continued her artistic endeavors despite surviving cancer. Rothschild, the first woman to chair the National Gallery and an active supporter of arts and heritage sites, has made significant impacts through her philanthropic work and leadership in the arts community.

MAD Architects unveiled the ZGC International Innovation Center in Beijing, featuring a curving green roof with rippled overhangs. Located in the Haidian district, the 700,000-square-foot center includes a roof park with trees and walkways designed to integrate with the landscape. The building’s clover-like form provides shaded outdoor spaces, while its interior is designed for social interaction with airy spaces and natural light from large skylights and a sunken courtyard.
The luxury industry’s claims of ethical practices are under scrutiny due to an Italian investigation into labor exploitation involving Armani and LVMH. This probe revealed that high-end brands are using illegal sweatshops to produce luxury goods marketed under the “made in Italy” label. As a result, subsidiaries of these brands have been placed under court administration for failing to ensure labor standards, highlighting the need for greater transparency and responsibility in luxury supply chains.
Grainger Plaza in Chicago, home to Anish Kapoor’s iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as “The Bean,” is set to reopen by the end of the month following nearly a year of renovations. The updates include rebuilding the plaza podium, replacing pavers, and making accessibility upgrades with new stairs and ramps, along with a new waterproofing system. Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events confirmed the reopening, weather permitting.
