The works in this group show, which features Chris Schanck, Jonathan Trayte, and Katie Stout, can be loosely classified as chairs, tables, and rugs of a practical nature, but “the personality and implicit meaning of these pieces are so assertive that they appear to be at odds with the function,” says Liechtenstein. In other words, they have a split personality by wielding the power to oscillate between functional furniture and conveyors of meaning.
