Fresh off of a solo exhibition at the Guggenheim this past spring, Jennie C. Jones has returned to Chicago’s Patron Gallery for her second solo exhibition there. Though her work has been shown before at Patron, “Nocturnes” is a new body of abstract paintings and sound design referring to both “music compositions evocative of night, (a notable example being Felix Mendelssohn’s ‘Nocturne’ from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (1848), as well as to the history of painting depicting landscapes at night,” according to gallery director Kristin Korolowicz.
