The New York-based painter-sculptor’s current show, which is named in homage to Woody Guthrie’s Americana ballad, charts a scene of exploratory westward voyages. A series of sweeping vistas of the Rocky Mountains are framed by Boeing 737–like window frames that evoke the lasting impact of Wayne’s 2021 transcontinental trip from New York to the Cascade Mountain Range. Additionally, “The Ages Have Been at Work,” a poem by Taylor Brorby, contextualizes the same aerial views the artist printed in a limited edition handmade accordion book that unfolds to a 10-foot long scroll.
