The National Academy of Design Museum reflects on its 200th anniversary with a two-part exhibition inspired by the holdings of its vast collection. Part I is currently on view, examining the U.S.’ landscape and territory through the lens of manifest destiny, colonialism, and imperialism. The cornerstone of the show is the pairing of centuries-old historical works with contemporary ones by the likes of Byron Kim, Dread Scott, Kay WalkingStick, Kara Walker, and more.
