Poster Beuys

In protest of Donald Trump’s travel ban, Anish Kapoor has appropriated a 1974 poster by German artist Joseph Beuys. Kapoor’s version features his face in place of Beuys’s, and the text is changed from “I Like America and America Likes Me” to“I Like America and America Doesn’t Like Me.”

Despite Kanye West’s recent, well-publicized turmoil, he will still debut a new collection at New York Fashion Week. Although West’s previous shows have been staged in atypical venues, Yeezy Season 5 will take place at Pier 59 Studios, a popular choice during fashion week.

Architects In Revolt

Studio Libeskind will protest Trump’s travel ban by boycotting companies that support his administration. In a statement, the firm said, “Studio Libeskind would not exist without immigration. Daniel Libeskind immigrated to the United States, fleeing persecution and communist rulers in Poland. His wife, Nina, cofounder of the practice, is Canadian. … This diversity makes us stronger and makes this practice uniquely American, not the other way around.”

Tunnel Vision

In order to avoid Los Angeles’s notorious traffic, Elon Musk has begun excavating a tunnel. Though this first tunnel will only connect the SpaceX headquarters to its parking structure across the street, Musk hopes to expand it.

Renzo’s Refresh

Renzo Piano, one of the Centre Pompidou’s two original architects, will design the building’s replacement escalators. The alterations are a part of the institution’s planned $90 million renovation.

Showing the World

London’s Saatchi Gallery will launch Salon, a new commercial space dedicated to showing the work of international artists. “Salon has been created because there are limited opportunities for international artists to show at major museums in the U.K.,” said Philippa Adams, senior director of the Saatchi Gallery.
