Art Production Fund Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary With a Slumber Party-Themed Gala

From a cheeky dress code of “truth or dare: sleepover chic” to cotton candy “Buggy Bear” sculptures by fine artist Alake Shilling, and a tableau of beds dressed in pink satin sheets and bowls of popcorn, Art Production Fund’s annual gala—this year honoring its 25th anniversary—embraced a celebratory slumber party theme. A takeover of two landmark venues in The Seagram Building, the festivities guided guests from a cocktail hour in The Grill to a live performance, auction, and multi-course meal in The Pool, with a menu imagined by Sarah Hoover and featuring (among other items) Sadelle’s mini pizza bagels, a cacio e pepe rigatoni sidecar, and French toast sticks with a salted caramel sundae. On each table, a bottle of Champagne Lallier came complete with a tag that asked attendees to “Spin Me.” In addition to the Balanchine-inspired performance, “Sonnambula” by choreographer Madeline Hollander with harp and violin duo LEYA and a troupe of contemporary dancers, guests were offered a bedtime storybook illustrated by the artist Angelica Hicks. Throughout the night, nearly $700,000 was raised in support of the organization. Notable attendees included Mickalene Thomas, Shantell Martin, Miles Greenberg, Romilly Newman, Micaela Erlanger, Waris Ahluwalia, Laurence Milstein, Thomas Doherty, Alex Edelman, Katherine Bernhardt, Marilyn Minter, Leo Villareal, and more.
