Scare at the Louvre

The Louvre was evacuated and briefly closed after a terror incident took place outside the institution. According to reports, a man shouting “Allahu akhbar” tried to stab a French soldier, and was subsequently shot five times.

Up In Smoke

Apple has patented a concept for a vaporizer. Although it is unclear what substance the device is intended to vaporize, this move could indicate that Apple and other mainstream companies are interested in entering the marijuana business.

Family Business

The Guggenheim Museum and Foundation’s deputy director, Ari Wiseman, is leaving the institution to start a Los Angeles-based design studio with his brother, designer David Wiseman. The new initiative’s space will house a studio and gallery, as well as put on “programs that foster dialogue about design and nature.”

Tall Overhaul

Chicago’s Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) will undergo a $500 million renovation. The design will be lead by Gensler’s Chicago office.

Movie House

The British Film Institute’s new $162 million London headquarters will be designed by architects Haworth Tompkins and Ole Scheeren. This will be Ole Scheeren’s first project in the U.K.
