On Friday evening, B&B Italia and Surface brought together hundreds of guests to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Charles, a leading piece of contemporary furniture design. Created by Antonio Citterio, Charles owes its immense success to both its shape and aesthetic, and to the research and innovation that went into its design.
The event, aligned with NYCxDesign, took place at B&B Italia’s Madison Avenue showroom, where guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés, and illustrators were on hand to capture guests’ personal B&B Italia experiences through live digital sketches. A scenographic installation by Migliore+Servetto Architects put the timeless quality of Charles front and center by framing the sofa within an evolving landscape of historical references.
