One of the city’s leading and largest art fairs continues to champion new ideas and artistic discoveries in its 24th edition, which teems with 193 international galleries presenting works ranging from historical pieces to contemporary projects, in addition to artist commissions and public programs. Focus
Curated by Gabriel Ritter, curator of contemporary art at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, this year’s Focus section explores how technology has transformed representations of the human body. Among the 34 featured pieces are data-derived artworks by conceptual artist Constant Dullaart, new canvases by Japanese painter Kei Imazu, and recent works by multimedia artist Tony Oursler. Platform
Titled “The Contingent” and overseen by independent curator Jen Mergel, the second edition of Platform dots the fair with large-scale, site-specific installations and commissions by participating artists JR, Tara Donovan, and Berndnaut Smilde, among many others.

Insights
Thirty-two galleries feature in this segment on work created before the year 2000. Notable showcases include Ed Moses’s 1970s “Pulled Wedge” series at Albertz Benda, rare collages created in the ’80s by Yayoi Kusama at Omer Tiroche Gallery, and the first-ever American presentation of works by Chinese contemporary artist Huang Rui at 10 Chancery Lane Gallery.
