Despite being just seven years old, the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is getting a major makeover. A redesign of most of the 3,041 rooms, scheduled to be completed later this year, is underway, courtesy of New York–based Virserius Studio in partnership with Marnell Companies. The new look will mix jewel tones with gold accents, custom damask wall coverings, and playful wallpaper in the closets.

The refresh comes on the heels of last year’s unveiling of the Boulevard Penthouses and The Reserve, an ultra-exclusive private gaming salon situated high above the strip. With interiors by Daun Curry, Richmond International, and Adam D. Tihany, the hotel’s 21 palatial suites—which measure from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet—are bedecked in over-the-top details such as crystal-encrusted wall textures, hand-woven fabrics, Italian glass mosaic murals, a life-size Pegasus statue, and golden bird cage with a swing inside. In other words, modern dens of iniquity worthy of Sin City. “Interior design is the art of packaging the essence of a particular lifestyle,” says designer Adam D. Tihany, who consulted on the design for seven of the penthouses and the gaming salon. “For the ‘whales,’ the word can’t doesn’t exist and that attitude extends throughout the suites and the salon.” Tihany imagined the types of characters who would visit—the Hollywood producer, the New York real estate magnate—and designed the space to align with their taste. No expense was spared. After all, as he explains, Vegas is “the only place where the project brief is: ‘Blow away the competition!’”
