Describe what you make: Women’s ready-to-wear and accessories.
The most important thing you’ve designed to date: A purple collarless tailored blazer and matching tuxedo pant I made for my great aunt to be buried in.
Describe the problem your work solves: I always believe women should wear the clothes; the clothes should never wear women.
Describe the project you are working on now: I am currently working on the Spring 2020 collection, which will be shot in one of artist Jun Kaneko’s warehouses in Omaha, Nebraska, at the end of May.
A new or forthcoming project we should know about: I recently accepted an invitation to exhibit a selection of 22 archive pieces alongside our Fall 2019 collection at Kaneko Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. The curated selection of work I included was featured with work from Jun Kaneko and four other artists in an exhibition titled “The Human Condition.” The exhibit is an extensive study of our shared human experience through the prism of the humanities—art, music, literature, history, and now, fashion. I’m very excited about our relationship with Kaneko Art Museum and with Jun Kaneko, and look forward to working on future projects together.
What you absolutely must have in your studio: Our eight-month-old Weimaraner puppy and the collection of Kachina dolls I’ve been collecting since I was a child.
What you do when you’re not working: We have a little place in Bellport, Long Island. When the weather permits, I’m outside gardening. I’m currently re-landscaping the front and back yards with new plants and flowers and laying a new brick sidewalk. Working with my hands and in the garden is a meditative experience that I look forward to whenever I have time.

The distraction you want to eliminate: Social media!
Concrete or marble? Marble! We even went to Turkey to personally select all the marble for our apartment in the city, so it’s very personal.
High-rise or townhouse? Hmmm… since we now have a puppy, we’re re-thinking high-rise life.
Remember or forget? Remember.
Aliens or ghosts? Ghosts.
Dark or light? Both. I’ve always been attracted to opposites in my work. This is most clearly seen in the interplay of dark and light throughout my collections.
