On Offer: On the ground floor of a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse, gallery director Rosa Park, who also founded the independent travel magazine Cereal, has opened a space that melds her Korean heritage with her adopted home of England. The light-flooded front room and salon-style back space, tastefully appointed with touches like a Gio Ponti ‘Randaccio’ mirror and Studio-Ore brass taps, host a miscellany of furniture, decorative objects, and art that will rotate during seasonal exhibitions. Purchases come encased in traditional hanji paper and bojagi wrapping cloth.
Standout Features: Park took inspiration from the home-as-art-installation philosophies of Jim Ede’s Kettle’s Yard and Donald Judd’s 101 Spring Street, collaborating with Rigby on a custom furniture collection that outfits the interior and is available for purchase. (Cloud Sofa and Kidney Desk are two favorites.) The current winter exhibition, through Jan. 26, 2020, includes works by the gallery’s roster of artists such as Jean-Baptiste Besançon’s abstract paintings and Korean ceramicist Yoon-Young Hur’s moon jars and funerary urns, which are wheel-thrown and fired by hand in Seoul.
