In South Sulawesi, Indonesia, crafting the traditional two-mast sailing vessels known as Phinisi is a time-tested tradition. Now, after three years of carpentry work by more than a dozen craftspeople, Aliikai’s eponymous yacht is taking tasteful jetsetters to the farthest-flung reaches of the archipelago in unmatched style. The yacht’s seven cabins and three decks can be chartered by the room or in its entirety for a private voyage to destinations including Komodo Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the volcanic landscapes of Alor, and even “Run Island,” where English and Dutch settlers battled in the 17th century.
