Compartés Chocolate Opens a Dusky-Emerald Flagship in Los Angeles.

The boutique chocolatier Compartés turned to design doyenne Kelly Wearstler for a hometown flagship store inspired by mid-century Continental confectioners.

With the classic 20th-century European chocolate shop as a muse, Compartés teamed up with design doyenne Kelly Wearstler to forge their custom, all-local petite space. “I wanted the store to reflect the thoughtfulness and heritage that is infused within every piece of chocolate, and truly embody the art of chocolate-making,” says Wearstler.

And thus it’s not surprising that all the materials used are rooted in tradition, from patinaed copper next to honed and tumbled marble, to ebonized wood. “Custom artisanal ceramic bowls, hand-blown glass domes, and brass faucets add a layer of unexpected beauty and California magic to the details,” Wearstler says.
