In his latest exhibition, the artist and ex–R.E.M. frontman arrays a selection of his photographs—recently compiled in his publication “Volume 1”—an autobiographical body of work drawn from 750 contact sheets chronicling his life, friendships, and creative community from 1979 to 2013. Alongside these images is a display of Stipe’s collection of historical ephemera and personal keepsakes that further underscores the diaristic nature of his practice.

Frieze Sculpture 2018

Set in and around the tranquil English gardens of Regent’s Park, this year’s edition of Frieze Sculpture features works by more than 25 contemporary and modern artists from around the world, including Kiki Smith, Tracey Emin, and John Baldessari. The summer-long event will also be accompanied by a downloadable app with a free audio tour by the curator of the exhibition, Claire Lilley.

“Brilliant City”

A meditation on vast skyscrapers and crowded streets, “Brilliant City” at David Zwirner’s Hong Kong Gallery brings together an international roster of artists whose works explore the often desolate and overwhelming experience of urban life. The exhibition features important works such as Conical Intersect by Gordon Matta-Clark and Zócalo by Francis Alÿs, as well as new work by artists Li Qing and Michael Lin, among others.

Dan Graham “New Works by a Small-Town Boy”

With his 1966 Homes for America work for Arts Magazine as a point of reference, Dan Graham’s second solo exhibition at Santa Monica’s Regen Projects features photographs capturing the diverse architectural styles and domestic greenery of his native New Jersey, taken by the artist in 2006. Along with architectural models and video works, these images illuminate the multidisciplinary artist’s continued exploration of suburban landscapes.
