“I will happily photograph the same patch of wall, day after day, for the pleasure of recording the changing light,” says architect and designer John Pawson, who is the recipient of this year’s Noguchi Award, Noguchi Museum’s 2017 Noguchi Awards. Though his Instagram feed doesn’t repeat subjects often, that sentiment—the love of light, the appreciation for the everyday—still pervades. He has stored a digital compilation of sinuous shapes and symmetrical lines within seemingly mundane details: intricate cracks, distorted shadows, sculptural minutia. The subject matter varies, but the images mange to come together in synchronicity.
