Edward Enninful Debuts His First Collection for Moncler, and Other News

Edward Enninful puts a dramatic, high-fashion twist on outerwear in his Moncler collab.

The former British Vogue editor debuted his first fashion collection for Moncler during Shanghai Fashion Week. Highlights from the all-black collection included high-cut bombers, ground-sweeping trenches, and a dramatic twist on a head-to-toe puffer coat. 

Carrie Mae Weems, Ruth Asawa, and 18 more artists receive National Medals of Arts.

Artists Carrie Mae Weems, Alex Katz, Mark Bradford, and the late Ruth Asawa were honored at the White House yesterday by President Biden, who presented them with the National Medals of Arts. The award, given by the U.S. government, recognizes significant contributions to the arts and includes other notable recipients such as filmmakers Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, and Queen Latifah. In the same event, 19 individuals and organizations received the National Humanities Medal, including author Robin Wall Kimmerer and the late Anthony Bourdain.

Cyndi Lauper embarked on an art-filled farewell tour, starting with Yayoi Kusama’s work.

Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” farewell tour kicked off with a slew of notable artist collaborations, beginning with Yayoi Kusama, whose iconic red polka dots appeared on video screens and stage designs in Montreal and Toronto. The tour also features contributions from Sonia Delaunay, Refik Anadol, as well as fashion designer Christian Siriano. 

The City of New York will need $350 million to make Fifth Ave. like the Champs-Élysées.

New York City plans to redesign Fifth Avenue into a pedestrian-friendly boulevard by expanding sidewalks, reducing traffic lanes, and adding landscaping to create a more inviting green space stretching from Bryant Park to Central Park. Inspired by famous streets like the Champs-Élysées, the $350 million project aims to boost foot traffic, with construction possibly beginning in 2028.

After it closed following multiple deaths onsite, the Vessel reopens with safety features.

The Vessel has reopened in Hudson Yards after closing in 2021 due to a series of deaths by suicide. New safety measures include steel mesh barriers along four stairwells, with only the first two levels fully open now. Higher sections will reopen gradually as protections are completed.
