This past month, Surface, and 4AM Gallery celebrated the opening of “CRZY CHMSTRY,” a collection of new paintings by Los Angeles–based artist Gregory Siff.
On display through June 8 at Surface Area in the Miami Design District, “CRZY CHMSTRY” showcases a collection of paintings and works that explore themes of youth, freedom, love, and interconnectivity through Siff’s signature icons and whimsical drawings, from portraits of iconic figures (Kurt Cobain, Batman) to mosaics filled with emoji-like doodles of French fries, soda pops, and other symbols of summer.
“CRZY CHMSTRY cannot be written. It is the inexplicable pull inside one another, toward each other, to create, to love, to know,” Siff says. “I paint to capture what the feeling is every day. Maybe you know what I’m talking about, maybe you’re just about to find out. Either way, it’s the most beautiful high, unmatched by anything. I highly suggest you fall in love today.”
The opening reception, which took place on Friday, May 13, drew a crowd from Miami’s creative community Guests sipped beverages by Tosba Mezcal, Vivanterre, Kin Euphorics, and Bombay Sapphire.
