A 16-foot-tall pigeon sculpture by Iván Argote will preside over the High Line.

This fall, Iván Argote’s monumental pigeon sculpture, titled Dinosaur, will be installed on the High Line at Tenth Avenue and 30th Street. The cast-aluminum piece is currently being finalized in Mexico, and aims to provoke thought about the “world’s oldest domesticated bird” by elevating it to a far larger-than-life scale. 

Foster + Partners is leading the charge in Turkey’s earthquake reconstruction efforts.

The London-based architecture firm Foster + Partners and Buro Happold have revealed a reconstruction plan for Antakya, Turkey, focusing on maintaining the city’s historic character while providing essential housing and jobs. The plan emphasizes accessibility and disaster resilience, and incorporates new public spaces and pedestrian pathways.

After eight months and many scathing headlines, Ye’s Tadao Ando house enters escrow.

Kanye West has finally sold his Tadao Ando–designed Malibu home, which he controversially gutted after purchasing it for $57.3 million. The brutalist beachfront property, listed at $53 million in December and later reduced by $14 million, was put into escrow last week. The home requires substantial investment to become habitable again.

Citing pandemic struggles, Fred Segal shutters its website and Los Angeles stores.

Fred Segal has closed its two Los Angeles stores and its website due to ongoing challenges from the pandemic, according to owner Jeff Lotman. Lotman noted that the shift to online shopping, economic uncertainties, and decreased foot traffic have made it difficult to sustain physical stores. The Fred Segal furniture store in Culver City and the brand’s shop-in-shop at Resorts World Las Vegas will remain open. 

New York’s Hotel Licensing Act could spell disaster for the city’s hotel restaurants.

Hotel restaurateurs are worried that the controversial bill will nullify existing restaurant leases and management agreements by transferring staff hiring power to hotel management and requiring annual hotel licenses. The bill, supported by the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council and members of the City Council, aims to address safety and cleanliness issues but has faced strong opposition from the New York City Hospitality Alliance.
