Joana Vasconcelos’ Dior-commissioned Valkyries sculpture will live on at a Madrid museum.

Joana Vasconcelos’ striking Valkyries sculpture, originally commissioned by Dior for its Fall/Winter ‘23 show, will remain on display at Madrid’s Palacio de Liria as part of a major exhibition featuring over 40 of her works. Set against masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, and Titian, the showcase coincides with Madrid’s ARCO art fair and celebrates the 50th anniversary of The House of Alba Foundation.  

TThe 20 global semifinalists for this year’s LVMH Prize have been announced.

The 2025 LVMH Prize semifinalists include 20 emerging fashion labels from 15 countries, with Ghana, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia making their debut in the competition. This year’s selection reflects a growing emphasis on tailoring, intricate craftsmanship, and statement occasion wear. The designers will showcase their collections in Paris next month, with public voting helping to determine which eight will advance to the finals.

Paul Rudolph’s historic Walker guest house has been listed for $2 million.

Paul Rudolph’s Walker Guest House, a landmark of Sarasota Modern architecture, has returned to the market for $2 million. Designed in the early 1950s, the compact yet innovative structure features moveable wall panels controlled by weighted red orbs, allowing it to shift between open-air pavilion and enclosed retreat. Previously sold at auction and temporarily exhibited at Modernism Week, the house remains a coveted piece of midcentury design.

Jeffrey Gibson will make his Southern California debut at the Broad Museum.

Jeffrey Gibson’s first Southern California museum exhibition, “the space in which to place me,” will open at the Broad in May, showcasing over 30 works from his acclaimed U.S. Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale. The Cherokee-Choctaw artist, known for his vibrant, text-driven pieces that explore Indigenous identity and activism, incorporates pop-culture references, historical documents, and intricate beadwork into his paintings, sculptures, and installations. This highly anticipated show marks a homecoming of sorts, bringing Gibson’s thought-provoking work from the global stage to Los Angeles audiences.

Art Basel has announced the exhibitors and sections for its 2025 edition in Basel, Switzerland.

Art Basel’s 2025 edition in Switzerland will feature 291 galleries from 42 countries, including 18 first-time participants, with the fair scheduled to run from June 19 to 22. This year introduces Premiere, a new sector showcasing experimental works developed within the past five years, alongside the return of Parcours, curated by Stefanie Hessler, which explores the shifting boundaries between nature and artificiality. Adding to the spectacle, Katharina Grosse will transform the Messeplatz with a large-scale, spray-painted mural, reinforcing Art Basel’s reputation as a hub for artistic exchange.
