Employing accessories is one of the simplest ways to jazz up an outfit. But with Kim Mee Hye‘s new collection—called Distrito Federal II, paying homage to Mexico City, which inspired the line—you may find yourself architecting your outfit around the accessories—and not the other way around.
That’s because these sparklers—with customizable options including rubies, tourmaline, white diamonds, and pink morganite—are conversation pieces in their own right.

Every piece in the Distrito Federal II collection begins with a disc made of precious metal (either white or rose gold, dealer’s choice!) that serves as the base for the rest of the semi-DIY look. Each disc contains a hole in the middle that’s perfectly engineered to fit one of the many dangly options that complete the set.
Some options are danglier than others. Take the Camilla style, for example: Its delicate, shoulder-grazing, white-gold loop catches light like a sparkly streamer—albeit a luxury version. This long, hanging bit—brilliantly designed as part of the earring’s backing—can also be doubled up (thanks to a small, built-in loop in the chain that fits around the earring’s post) for a more impactful, less vertical look that appears to even impossibly sparklier than its single loop setting. Now that’s a gift that keeps on giving.
The only quandary this collection brings about, from our perspective: how will we ever choose just one style to “add to cart”?
