At Worthless Studios, Miles Greenberg Reflects on the Ecstasy of Heartbreak

On May 22, the artist and sculptor Miles Greenberg staged a seven-hour live performance of his latest work, called Fountain I, at the newly opened Bushwick space of Worthless Studios. The Hermann Nitsch–inspired performance sees a lone figure standing atop a white plinth floating over a large pond of blood—a poetic gesture about the final stages of heartbreak. Founded by Neil Yamamoto in 2019, Worthless Studios is a community incubator that provides space, materials, and resources for emerging talents to realize their creative visions and produce compelling public art. Notables from New York’s creative sphere attended the performance before enjoying cocktail hour in the evening. Attendees included Precious Okoyomon, Lutfi Janania, Kelsey Lu, Job Piston, and more.
