The Kith founder reimagined New Balance’s 998 shoes through the lens of Wright’s Broadacre City, a conceptual proposal that integrates urban and suburban development with nature. Gensler will redesign and add an all-glass facade to Baltimore’s historic Penn Station.
Gensler has unveiled the redesigned Baltimore Penn Station as a “train as theater” concept that showcases both the old station and the transit activity itself. Amtrak’s eighth busiest station, the multimodal hub will be expanded with an all-glass facade and a low-lying, copper-lined roof that draws inspiration from the existing train hall’s three Tiffany domes. The reimagined train station is one component of a larger plan to redevelop the neighborhood as a commercial destination, which will strengthen a tapestry that tells the story of a bright future.

Sulwhasoo celebrated its new partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Temple of Dendur with a lavish dinner attended by celebrities, such as the global pop star Rosé and the Academy Award-winning actress Yuh-Jung Youn. Although the Korean beauty brand’s sales come primarily from Asia, the brand aims to increase its presence in the United States and Europe with its new global ambassador, Tilda Swinton, and a subtle redesign of its packaging. Sulwhasoo’s philosophy of inner health and inner beauty, represented in its use of edible ingredients, aligns with Korean beauty’s larger ethos.

Lanvin creative director Bruno Sialelli is leaving the brand after four years as the French fashion house restructures its business to gear up for growth. The company announced the creation of two new divisions alongside the main ready-to-wear men’s and women’s business, including a leather goods and accessories department with a dedicated creative team and Lanvin Lab, a new section focused on collaborative projects. Leather goods are now the main driver of sales at Lanvin, accounting for over half of the company’s sales, and the debut Lanvin Lab tie-up is due to be announced in the coming weeks.

Protests in France against President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to raise the minimum pension age from 62 to 64 have continued, with trade unionists and strikers storming into the Paris headquarters of LVMH, the luxury goods company owned by Bernard Arnault, the world’s richest person. Despite reduced numbers at protests, Macron faces continued public opposition to the pension age increase with 52 percent of French people wanting protests to continue even if the constitutional council approves the pensions law.
Sotheby’s relaunches an NFT auction after backlash over lack of female representation.
Sotheby’s will launch the “Glitch: Beyond Binary” art sale on April 19, which features 34 lots of NFTs from artists in the “glitch art” movement. The genre utilizes digital or analog errors to provoke political and identity expression. The auction aims to right the wrongs of the previous “Glitch-ism” auction, which faced backlash for its lack of female artist representation.
