Evoke and Ensemble, two collections Calico Wallpaper launched this past fall, infuse interiors with an essence of playful creativity inspired by Abstract Expressionism and the uninhibited imagination of childhood. Evoke features geometric forms born from layered watercolor washes, evoking fantastical landscapes, while Ensemble’s bold brushstrokes and vivid contrasts recall the impasto painting tradition.
Illustrator Oliver Jeffers has co-created Caran D’Ache’s Luminance 6901™ Creative Set, combining Jeffers’ artistic sensibilities with the brand’s long held expertise in fine art tools. The set features eight curated Luminance 6901™ pencils, known for their exceptional lightfastness, alongside vibrant neon additions.
Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering teamed up with fashion designer and artist Rebecca Moses to launch her first wallcovering collection, an ebullient ode to her maximalist patterns with the durability befitting a leading commercial wallcovering. The collection reimagines elements from Moses’ own works, such as “The Queen,” into bold patterns that celebrate individuality, diversity, and storytelling.
Kaare Klint, a pioneer of Danish functionalist design, showcased his mastery of proportion and craftsmanship in two unmistakable creations: the English Chair and the Spherical Bed. The English Chair, inspired by 18th-century English designs, features contrasting wood and intricate French canework, requiring nearly a week of meticulous weaving per chair. The Spherical Bed, introduced in 1938, demonstrates Klint’s precision with its mathematically perfect dimensions, taking an entire month to craft. Both pieces are now produced on a made-to-order basis by Carl Hansen & Søn’s skilled artisans.
