OPENING SHOT

St. Regis Mexico City Elevates Luxury with Garden Terrace Suites

For its 15th anniversary, the St. Regis Mexico City debuts a series of art-filled suites that blur the lines between gallery, garden, and sky-high elegance.

Surface contributor and artist C.K Reed captures the essence of a Garden Suite.

ST. REGIS MEXICO CITY

Designer: PGM Arquitectura

Location: Mexico City, Mexico

On offer: Like a quinceañera, Latin America’s celebration of the transition from girlhood to womanhood at age 15, St. Regis Mexico City emerges into its next chapter with some fresh gravitas. Within architect César Pelli’s soaring 31-story glass tower, eight new garden terrace suites merge indoor-outdoor living with Mexican artistic heritage. Each opens to expansive terraces where native botanicals, hand-picked by San Miguel de Allende’s Casa Martina, create verdant sanctuaries above the capital’s central Reforma neighborhood.

The St. Regis Mexico City offers ongoing cultural programming for both guests and locals, which in 2024 included a midnight supper for Zona Maco and a pop-up from Manhattan’s buzzy Pebble Bar, bringing head bartender Tim Sweeney’s coveted cocktail program south of the border. The property’s dining venues span La Table Krug, where champagne pairs with destination dining, to the rooftop Bloom Garden and storied King Cole Bar, while the signature St. Regis Butler Service attends to guests’ needs around the clock.

Standout features: PGM Arquitectura’s vision reaches its apex in the Caroline Astor Garden Terrace Suite—a 3,875-square-foot statement featuring Mexico City’s first private outdoor infinity pool. Inside, works by Spanish-Mexican master Vicente Rojo and painter Joy Laville complement custom-designed furnishings in brass and leather, while a modernist pergola shelters an outdoor lounge area.

The remaining seven suites follow a similar narrative: Garden Terrace Executives feature private jacuzzis set within geometric terraces; the Grand Deluxe category showcases outdoor fireplaces clad in local volcanic stone and interiors adorned with pieces by Isabel Marina and Alfonso Marina. Floor-to-ceiling windows impart a gallery-like feel with dramatic views of the neighborhood’s futuristic skyscrapers.
