Paul Smith is a child at heart. The English fashion designer is known for creating apparel and accessories in exuberant hues and patterns with fun details—like multi-color buttons, cufflinks with toy airplanes, and bags with rainbow cars. Lately, he’s applied this trademark to a line with Anglepoise, the storied British purveyor of balanced-arm lamps, on its Type 75™—a scheme that was created by Smith’s compatriot, industrial product designer Sir Kenneth Grange.

Come September 2019, the fourth edition of the collaboration will roll out, and will continue down the perky path set by its predecessors, casting bold color blocks on a standard-size desk lamp, a mini version, and a floor lamp. This new series follows the palette of a unique version of the Land Rover Defender, which has a spectrum that ranges from burgundy and dappled green, to sky blue and rich clay. There are also flashes of fluorescent yellow added to the mix.

Though the fourth edition has yet to drop, Paul Smith’s past collaborations with Anglepoise are currently available on the lighting company’s website. This collection features lighter, more pastel hues that call to mind a kid’s play room, which will add a sense of gaiety to any space. To whit, it will surely brighten the room.

The Anglepoise and Paul Smith Edition Four collection ranges from $240 to $375, and will be available in September 2019 on Anglepoise.com.
