New York’s Culturati Turned Out for the Performance Space Gala

Last week, a who’s who of New York’s culture world descended upon the East Village to celebrate Performance Space New York—which rose to fame as a nexus for the medium of performance art during the AIDS Crisis. Now in its 45th year, the organization remains a monument of experimentation and self-expression through the medium, and especially for queer and radical voices. The evening’s festivities honored Yoko Ono, Fran Lebowitz, and Adrienne Edwards, with a menu by Indochine and addresses from the likes of Taja Cheek (known professionally as L'Rain), Ralph Lemon, and MC Julio Torres. Notables in attendance included Martin Scorcese, Debbie Harry, Kelsey Lu, Telfar Clemens, Nan Goldin, Hari Nef, Lizzi Bougatsos, Adrian Danchig-Waring, Nicole Eisenman, Marian Goodman,, Miles Greenberg, Oscar Yi Hou, and more.
