Remedy Place will bring its swanky social wellness club concept to SoHo in September.
Remedy Place has announced a September opening date for its new 7,400-square-foot “social wellness club” in SoHo. The company aims to expand its two-club footprint to 16 locations across the U.S., a response to a demonstrable increase in demand for wellness services among Millennials and Gen Z-ers. The new club, which will be its largest, joins a growing wellness market in New York, although founder Jonathan Leary emphasizes the social aspect of Remedy Place’s wellness treatments sets it apart.
X will close its San Francisco headquarters and relocate its workforce to San Jose.
The social media platform owned by Elon Musk will close its San Francisco office in the coming weeks. CEO Linda Yaccarino will relocate employees to offices in San Jose and open an engineering office in Palo Alto shared with Musk’s AI venture, xAI. This decision follows Musk’s announcement that X’s headquarters would move to Texas, in response to California’s recent law on gender identification in schools.
SHoP and OSD become the latest firms to reinvigorate Governors Island’s infrastructure.
A former munitions facility on Governors Island will soon be transformed into a restaurant and events venue designed by SHoP Architects and OSD. The 10,000-square-foot space will host three restaurants, including a Mediterranean café, a taco fast-casual spot, and a restaurant and event space. Construction is slated to begin this winter and is expected to be completed in fall of 2025.
Marcela Guerrero and Drew Sawyer will curate the 2026 Whitney Museum Biennial.
The Whitney Museum of American Art has appointed Marcela Guerrero and Drew Sawyer as curators for its 2026 Biennial. Both Whitney curators, Guerrero is known for showcasing Latin American artists, and commended Sawyer, a photography curator who joined the Whitney from the Brooklyn Museum.
Heatherwick Studio will bring an ethereal hourglass-shaped retail development to Seoul.
Heatherwick Studio has released renderings for the planned Hanwha Galleria in Seoul. The project features two hourglass-shaped glass structures with landscaped areas and a programmable double-skinned facade. Covering an existing metro station, the development includes a glass atrium and two plaza areas. Local firm Haeahn Architecture will collaborate with the London-based studio on the project, which coincides with Heatherwick‘s role as general director of the 2024 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism.
