Shepard Fairey ushers in an Obama-era Hope redux with a new Kamala Harris poster.

Street artist Shepard Fairey, who became a household name with his Obama-era Hope poster, has created a new piece for Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign. Titled Forward, it reflects Harris’s campaign slogan and renders Harris in shades of blue, portraying her in a confident stance. It is Fairey’s first presidential artwork in more than a decade and includes his formal endorsement of Harris and Tim Walz.

SANAA and the city of Charlotte, NC, win Stuart Weitzman School of Design awards.

At its annual design awards, the University of Pennsylvania’s Weitzman School of Design presented the 2024 Kanter Tritsch Medal in Architecture to SANAA founders Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa. The school also honored Charlotte, NC’s Future 2040 plan with the 2024 Witte-Sakamoto Family Medal in City and Regional Planning. Two students, Ariel Koltun-Fromm and Elam Boockvar-Klein, were also recognized with $50,000 scholarships.

A rezoning plan to bolster public transit and affordable housing divides Bronx residents.

New York City’s approval of a Bronx rezoning plan has sparked reactions of both support and concern from residents. While the development, which will introduce four new Metro-North stations and 7,000 housing units along a six-mile corridor, aims to reduce commute times and boost infrastructure, critics fear it may accelerate gentrification and undermine affordability in the borough. 

Chanel has acquired a whopping 25 percent stake in Swiss watchmaker MB&F.

The French fashion house has acquired a 25 percent stake in MB&F, a Swiss watchmaker known for its avant-garde timepieces. The move provides financial stability to the indie manufacturer and also bolsters Chanel’s credibility as the brand seeks to be taken seriously as not just a fashion brand but a luxury watchmaker, too.

YouTube takes aim at TikTok Shop, expanding its Shopify affiliate program partnership.

YouTube is expanding its partnership with Shopify to enhance its Shopping affiliate program. The expanded program allows creators to tag thousands of new brands in their videos, significantly broadening their earning potential. It also allows YouTube to better compete with TikTok Shop, which has been rapidly growing its U.S. merchant base.
