Location: Los Angeles
Design: Electric Bowery
On Offer: Joining the wave of outdated motels reborn as stylish boutique hotels, the Silver Lake Pool & Inn is a worthy addition to the eastside neighborhood’s eclectic vibe. The sixth L.A. offering from founder Avi Brosh’s Palisociety is the product of co-collaborators Timberlane Partners and Venice-based design firm Electric Bowery who reimagined the 54 guest rooms, raised pool deck, and sundry social spaces—many of which are outdoors. On-site is chef Casey Lane’s Marco Polo Trattoria and Bar, serving Aperol spritzes and all-day coastal Italian cuisine with a California spin, but the hotel’s proximity to Sunset Junction means guests can easily walk to Night + Market Song, one of 2019’s standout restaurant debuts, or neighborhood favorites such as Cafe Stella.
Standout Features: Electric Bowery curated an assortment of vintage furnishings and curios, many from local artisans, to render a Mexican modernist meets SoCal aesthetic. Think sunset-toned terrazzo nightstands and vanities by Concrete Collaborative, low-slung leather armchairs on antique rugs, and handmade Moroccan tiles. Los-Angeles-based Block Shop created custom textile wall hangings that complement prints by Alexandra Berg and photography by Laure Joliet. Exterior stairwells with inset succulent gardens connect multi-level terraces, including the pool terrace offering views of the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Observatory.
