On a hardscape plaza in Brooklyn, artist Spencer Finch has recreated a section of a California redwood forest at a 1:100 scale. The installation, which opened October 1 and will remain in place through 2018, includes thousands of young trees arranged according to detailed topographic and canopy maps. We recently visited the project, titled “Lost Man Creek,” to capture the disjunction between the work and its surroundings.
