On the Last Day of Sundance, a Linda Rozenkrantz Book Signing for “Peter Hujar’s Day”

On December 18, 1974, writer Linda Rosenkrantz met up with pioneering portrait photographer Peter Hujar, a close friend, and asked him to outline everything he did the day before. In 2022, that gathering—which Rosenkrantz carefully documented—was released as “Peter Hujar’s Day,” a slender but powerful volume about artistry, friendship, and a changing world. This Sundance, Ira Sachs premiered his cinematic adaptation of the tale, starring an enveloping Ben Whishaw as Hujar and Rebecca Hall as Rosenkrantz. All four were present in Park City, Utah on Jan. 26 for an invite-only book signing and cocktail reception hosted by Bookmarc, the bookstore division of Marc Jacobs, and The Standard Hotels, which allowed eager attendees to meet the 90-year-old author. Notables in attendance included Ira Sachs, Ben Whishaw, Rebecca Hall, Linda Rosenkrantz, Mark Anthony Green, Maria Belafonte, Eli Keszler and more.
