MASS Design Group has repurposed a decommissioned three-million-gallon water tank in Poughkeepsie, New York, into a striking underground arts venue. With its vaulted ceilings, scalloped floors, and remarkable acoustics, the century-old cistern hosted four performances in 2024 and recently secured a National Endowment for the Arts grant. Now, MASS is working to establish a long-term operating plan and raise $6 million to ensure the space becomes a permanent cultural landmark.
