As part of Getty’s far-reaching PST programming, this year organized around a central theme of “Art and Science Collide,” artists Tiffany Shlain and Ken Goldberg brought a pyrographic show of sculptures made from salvaged Eucalyptus trees to L.A.’s Skirball Cultural Center. The show, titled “Ancient Wisdom for a Future Ecology: Trees, Time & Technology,” takes inspiration from the science of tree ring dating and drew a crowd of distinguished collectors and creatives to its opening, including Nadya Tolokonnikova, Diane von Furstenberg, Kristen Bell, Peter Horton, and more.
