Tom Dixon is extending his reach beyond sight and tactility. The English product designer—primarily known for offering sleek, forward-thinking furniture, lighting, and home accessories—is touching on the sense of smell, adding two candles and diffusers to his Eclectic collection: Underground and Alchemy. They join a stable that already includes London, Orientalist, Royalty, and Giftset.

Introduced at Maison et Objet in 2012, Eclectic encompasses copper dishes, soaps, balms, and scents. With the line, Dixon is enveloping his consumers into his world, providing a breath of products that stimulate all sensory faculties. The inclusion of Underground and Alchemy also shows that the collection hasn’t lost steam in seven years, and continues to offer new aromas for consumers to try.

For Underground, Dixon imbued it with fresh, gingery notes extracted from rhizomes developed well below the Earth’s surface, which are then infused with Haitian cardamom, giving it a woody scent. Alchemy is a hodgepodge of everyday substances—patchouli, black pepper, guaiac wood, cypress, and eucalyptus—that form a precious aroma. There’s no second-guessing how they got their names.

Both are contained in slender, nip-waisted metal containers in two colorways (bronze for Underground and black for Alchemy) that come in four sizes and a diffuser option. And to highlight these additions to the collection, all past Eclectic candles will now come in the same hourglass-shaped vessels. The brand has also reconfigured a selection of drinkware and wall hooks to coincide with the drop.

Tom Dixon’s Eclectic Underground and Eclectic Harmony collections retail from $40 to $400, and will be available at Tomdixon.net.
