Wangechi Mutu debuts an AR monument for Kinfolk in New York and New Orleans.

Wangechi Mutu’s latest commission, a monument titled Bibi Bahari, has been unveiled in the AR world of Kinfolk. The work is Mutu’s interpretation of the East African water spirit Mami Wata, and can be seen in the cities of Brooklyn and New Orleans through the Kinfolk app. 

Apple sets a Sept. launch for new, bigger iPhones with better cameras and more updates.

On Sept. 10, Apple will launch its newest iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods. The latest generation of products are expected in stores on September 20. The biggest highlights are improvements to the iPhone, with larger screens and better cameras coming to the iPhone 16.

California’s new flipper disclosure law gives home buyers a new level of transparency.

A new California disclosure law mandates that home flippers provide detailed information about renovations, including permits and contractor details, for homes sold within 18 months of purchase. The law will ensure transparency and aims to reduce the risk of buyers purchasing dysfunctional homes. It also stands to establish precedent for similar legislation in other states.

Foster + Partners begins its commission for King Salman International Airport.

After winning a 2022 design competition, Foster + Partners has entered into a partnership with Saudi Arabia to develop the next phase of Riyadh’s King Salman International Airport. When completed, it will become one of the world’s largest air travel hubs with its seven terminals and a staggering capacity of 100 million annual  travelers by 2030.

In 2025, the Guggenheim will put on a career survey of multidisciplinary artist Rashid Johnson.

Rashid Johnson’s practice will be the subject of a major, mid-career survey at the Guggenheim Museum in 2025. The exhibition, titled “A Poem for Deep Thinkers,” will transform Frank Lloyd Wright’s rotunda with nearly 90 works exploring themes of identity, social alienation, and rebirth across the mediums of photography, mixed-media paintings, sculpture, film, and installation.
