This exhibition will mark the first United States museum retrospective devoted to the expressionist painter Alexei Jawlensky. Born in Russia, Jawlensky moved to Munich at the turn of the 20th century and became part of the famed German expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter. The approximately 75 paintings will be organized according to his chronological and thematic development.
