In its seventh year, this month-long festival celebrates New York’s rich architectural landscape with a new batch of exhibitions, lectures, and architect-led walking tours of its “Building of The Day” sites. Don’t miss festival highlights such as “Scaffolding,” an exhibition at the Center for Architecture exhibition, that explores the history and hidden possibilities of scaffolding as a transformative architectural form, and that features an installation by architect Shohei Shigematsu of OMA. This year’s Swedish Design Moves program, themed “Democratic Architecture,” will also present five days of talks and installations on the design thinking, environmental considerations, and community desires that go into creating egalitarian spaces.
