The concept of time as a recurring sequence is a well-explored topic; for Grammy-nominated artist Blitz Bazawule, it’s “a time loop, connecting the past with the present.” Exercising his artistic language of mixed media and collage, “A Moment in Time” delivers a nuanced analysis of temporal nostalgia inspired by the vintage photographs that populated Bazawule’s childhood home in Ghana. This exhibition watches Bazawule revive personal histories as modern memories through a series of eight paintings complimented by an immersive multimedia reel. “It is the viewer experiencing the painting today, transported to yesterday with a clearer view of tomorrow,” says Bazawule.
