The black and blue colors in Ellsworth Kelly’s sculpture “Blue Black” serve as a touchpoint for this exhibition, curated by artist Glenn Ligon. Played out across more than 50 artworks, from Carrie Mae Weems’s “Blue Black Boy” to Norman Lewis’s “Blue and Boogie,” the two colors illuminate the interplay of language, perception, and identity.
