Taking over the Woodruff Arts Center’s Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza, the forest-like installation offers a playfully tactile scene for all, but especially those with disabilities and other sensory sensitivities who may otherwise lack access to such immersive experiences. The angulating steel structure supports thousands of solar-hued hanging strands that form both small enclosures for repose and open nooks for social interaction. Each strand makes use of textural materials designed alongside the visually impaired in order to encourage dynamic navigation through touch; their varying heights accommodate those who use mobility devices.
