From 1908 to 1915, Dutch artists Jan Toorop, Piet Mondriaan, Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig, and Jacoba van Heemskerck found themselves drawn to the picturesque coast of Zeeland in the Netherlands, a source of inspiration for many of their luminous landscapes. Shown here are 60 of the painters’ works that expertly capture the region’s trees, beaches, towers, and people in striking light and color.
