The New York artist Eric N. Mack dyes textiles, stitches together slices of fabric, adorns moving blankets with newsprint and paint, and sometimes delicately hangs his constructions on strings so that they float in the air. These are tender, proudly precarious artworks, as alluring as they are inventive. Like people, they have stories to tell, but they are not willing to give them up all at once. This is a heartbreaker of a show. —Andrew Russeth
