The Schinkel Pavillon’s octagonal gallery is teeming with the creations of late Swiss visionary HR Giger, known as the father of Xenomorph, the protagonist monster in Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien. They join intricate arrangements by up-and-coming Korean sculptor Mire Lee, who employs materials like silicone, PVC, and concrete to evoke dysfunctional organisms and dissected body parts. Together, the two plumb the darkest depths of the human psyche, forging a seductively dystopian phantasmagoria that embodies our most resonant polarities: decline and resilience, lust and revulsion, and hopelessness and power.
