Held at Spring Studios in New York’s Tribeca neighborhood, the fair’s open layout is deliberately amenable to impactful curating. As such, exhibitors can be expected to present slick displays of artwork, and are careful to avoid putting easy appeal before originality, or vice versa. Independent was launched in New York in 2010, and will have a second run in Brussels this April.
