An intimate look at the imminent environmental apocalypse, Jillian Mayer’s fiberglass, ceramic, and painterly works toy with the idea of human survival as we approach a climatic reckoning and offer tongue-in-cheek propositions on new ways to adapt to the natural world. Besides featuring several interactive spaces, the exhibition will also premier an outdoor sculpture in the lake on SECCA’s grounds that explores how art can become functional during times of disaster or when the planet becomes uninhabitable.
