The Czech painter and graphic artist’s latest show features eight large glass sculptures, seven large-scale paintings, and a series of works on paper. It highlights Dokoupil’s inventive use of materials like glass and soap bubbles, reflecting themes of impermanence and transformation that his work often explores. His glass sculptures, which bear a resemblance to his Soap Bubble Paintings, narrow the gap between viewers and the art, while his large-scale paintings, created by blowing soap bubbles onto canvases, evoke spontaneity and challenge traditional notions of artistic control and permanence.
