A smartphone on a desk may seem like a mundane sight today, but would present an inexplicable enigma to previous generations. Intrigued by novel objects and the behaviors attached to them, Konstantin Grcic envisioned a series of enigmatic vignettes that illustrate how our daily lives are undergoing transformations by the increasingly everyday use of new technologies. The German industrial designer adorns his own objects—the Traffic chaise for Magis and Stool-Tool for Vitra among them—with strategically placed gadgets such as smartphone holders that perhaps illustrate a new normal looming in the not-so-distant future.
