Inaugurating the gallery’s brand-new Mid-City exhibition space, local painter Linda Stark reveals a body of work that examines the heart—the literal and figurative center of human life. For this series, which emphasizes the sculptural qualities of paint, Stark creates objects that reflect the heart’s potential as a vessel, beacon, physical organ, and mystical source. In so doing, she reveals how the heart informs the suffragette movement, military medallions, religious imagery, and one’s own intimate inner experiences.
